Greetings all! My name is Tykera (Ty) Carter. I graduated from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT and attained both my B.A. in Communication Studies & a M.A. degree in Sports Communications. At Sacred Heart, I was a four-year member of the Division 1 WBB team. What do you do when you know something that your passionate about is coming to an end? You find what's next and continue to chase that passion but from a different vantage point. Ultimately, I knew the ball would stop bouncing one day, which led me to pursue a career in sports. July 2020 is when I accepted a position to work for the NBA as a Social Media & Digital Content Publisher, specifically for the WNBA. Today, I am an on-air color commentator for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League. I also work as broadcast talent for George Mason WBB and the NEC Conference as both a men's and women's basketball sideline reporter and color analyst seen on ESPN+, ESPN3, CBS Sports Network amongst other streaming platforms. In 2021, I was selected to be apart of the Inaugural Creators of Color Cohort created by Hashtag Sports. Within this cohort, I was recognized for brand-defining work for organizations at the intersection of sports, content, and entertainment that has helped diversify my fan audiences.
